After the holy bath ( or mangala snaanam ), the groom pretends to go to Kashi, leaving all the worldly pleasures behind. He is stopped by the bride's father and is persuaded to accept the responsibility of his daughter and marry her. The groom is offered new clothes and gifts to start a new life. In the end the groom agrees to marry and comes back to the mandap for wedding. This is a fun filled ritual in tam brahmin weddings.
